摘要: The accretion-powered millisecond X-ray pulsar, SAX J1808.4-3658, was observed in quiescence with ASCA September 1999. We detected a dim source the SIS data at position consistent to J1808.4-3658. count rate (1.1+-0.4)x10E-3 cts/s (0.5-5 keV) for single SIS, which corresponds (3+-1)x10E-14 ergs/s/cmE2 if power law energy spectrum of photon index 2 low-energy absorption corresponding hydrogen column density 1.3x10E21 cmE-2 is assumed. statistical quality insufficient constrain or detect 401 Hz coherent pulsation. compare BeppoSAX observation also made during quiescent state, and find that flux measured by least factor 4 smaller than BeppoSAX. discuss possible emission mechanisms could explain change, including radio pulsar shock emission.
