摘要: We used the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to study epidemiology of pathogenic and nonpathogenic Entamoeba histolytica in a rural community Mexico. Formalin-fixed stool samples were for extraction DNA. The PCR amplifications performed using two sets primers that discriminate between or non-pathogenic E. histolytica. A total 201 randomly selected individuals studied. Among them, 25 (12%) diagnosed be infected with by microscopy; identified 24 these as positive (sensitivity = 0.96) 176 negative individuals, only three (specificity 0.98). analysis defined populations: 14 cases both histolytica, nine one case was Infection strongly associated infection coli (odds ratio [OR] 9.41, 95% confidence interval [CI] 3.09, 28.65, P < 0.0004) Endolimax nana (OR 6.15, CI 2.03, 18.17, 0.0004). This new technique has high specificity sensitivity; it is simple, reproducible, fast, avoids need culture trophozoites, can applied field epidemiologic studies.
