Narratives of the Development of Urban Teacher Leaders

摘要: The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the development urban elementary teacher leaders as captured in narrative data and analyzed through theoretical lenses role identity, distributed leadership, leadership leadership. narratives five provided rich descriptions that made it possible to: (a) examine mechanisms for encouraging assertion choices; (b) identify support practices within future teachers context; (c) provide insight building roles school environment those who coordinate professional activities. Data were collected via semi-structured interviews post-interview reflections over course three months. All participants worked settings duration employed by same system southeastern United States. Narrative analysis, analysis a cross-case strategies used reveal participants‘ perceptions individual roles, their journeys development, influences experiences contexts on choices. Recommendations enhance preparation, mentoring, potential current leaders.
