摘要: Abstract The substantial increase in power generation from variable renewable sources has led to renewed interest energy storage. Pumped hydropower remains the only mature and widely-adopted utility-scale storage technology. However, selection development of new pumped sites is heavily influenced by physical constraints such as terrain, well non-physical considerations proximity proposed reservoirs settlements or environmentally culturally sensitive sites. Hence, transforming existing schemes often considerably easier than developing completely schemes. A model calculate theoretical potential a large area for conventional stations non-hydropower reservoirs. methodology combines database dams with digital terrain identify suitable transformation, applies several eliminate unfeasible sites, then calculates realisable terms output tested applying it case Turkey produce country-level estimates transformations. In excess 3800 GWh was identified over 400 country.
