摘要: Abstract : Many agencies, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, are responsible for ensuring that national water quality standards met. The manages and monitors all waters within jurisdictions outlined in Water Quality Management Plans, traditional field sampling (water, sediment, biological) measurement physical parameters. However, these approaches can be labor-intensive expensive, often providing discrete data at a single point space time making it difficult to characterize larger waterbody. During last three decades, remote sensing has experienced an increasing role studies, largely due technological advances, instrument/sensor algorithm/image processing improvements. primary strength over techniques includes ability provide synoptic view more effective monitoring spatial temporal variation. In addition, offers capabilities viewing multiple waterbodies large region one time, comprehensive historical record or trend analysis, planning tool prioritizing surveying sampling, accurate estimations optically active constituents used quality. Furthermore, when utilized management planning, help reduce costs through minimizing targeting collection thousands samples. Although technology is still emerging, there abundant evidence usefulness monitoring.
