摘要: Composite pavements consisting of a relatively thin functional top layer high quality asphalt or concrete bonded to lower materials have been utilized in Europe and limited extent the United States. These composite generally provided long structural lives through design aimed at exceptionally low fatigue damage but also with good surface characteristics (smoothness, noise, friction). The can consist variety bound including hot-mixed (HMA), stone matrix (SMA), rubber-asphalt porous friction courses. be rapidly renewed as needed no repairs required layer. is typically sustainable yet structurally sound portland cement (PCC) that utilizes recycled and/or cost locally available materials, thus reducing need haul aggregates pavement over distances. This paper describes construction test section constructed part Strategic Highway Research Program 2 (SHRP 2) project R21. instrumented 150 mm (6 in) PCC jointed 75 (3 hot-mix (HMA) riding was Spring 2010 on Interstate 94 Minnesota Road Facility (MnROAD) Albertville, just northwest Minneapolis. Successes challenges constructing new HMA/PCC using based first-hand experience are presented. Agencies existing old deteriorated overlaid may find recycling these directly into aggregate (RCA) slab surfaced high-quality asphaltic (HMA, SMA, course) could an economical alternative. Results applicable widening type pavement.
