Novel Polymeric Valve for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Applications: In Vitro Hemodynamic Study

摘要: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a minimally-invasive approach for treating severe stenosis. All clinically-used TAVR valves to date utilize chemically-fixed xenograft as the leaflet material. Inherent limitation of tissue (e.g., calcific degeneration) motivates search alternative Here we introduce novel polymeric that was designed address limitations tissue-valves. In this study, experimentally evaluated hemodynamic performance and compared its valves: gold standard surgical valve, valve. Our comparative testing protocols included: (i) baseline hydrodynamics (ISO:5840-3), (ii) complementary patient-specific in dedicated system, (iii) thrombogenicity. The system facilitated comparing under more realistic conditions. Baseline results at CO 4–7 L/min showed superior effective orifice area (EOA) polymer most-notably reference Regurgitation fraction higher but within ISO minimum requirements. Thrombogenicity trends followed EOA with being least thrombogenic, clinical most. Hemodynamic-wise, strongly indicate our can outperform valves.
