摘要: The development of male sterile plants is a prerequisite to developing hybrid varieties harness the benefits vigor in crops and enhancing crop productivity for sustainable agriculture. In plants, cysteine proteases have been known their multifaceted roles during programmed cell death, ubiquitin- proteasome-mediated proteolysis. Here, we showed that Arachis diogoi protease (AdCP) expressed under TA-29 promoter induced complete sterility Indian mustard, Brassica juncea. herbicide resistance gene bar was used selection transgenic plants. Mustard exhibited phenotype failed produce functional pollen grains. Irregularly shaped aborted grains with groove-like structures were observed scanning electron microscopy analysis. T1 progeny obtained from seed primary crossed wild-type segregation into fertile normal development. Further, higher transcript levels AdCP anther tissues, which consistent its expression tapetum-specific promoter. Our results clearly suggest targeted provides potential tool lines by malfunction tapetal cells leading as shown earlier tobacco (Shukla et al. 2014, Funct Integr Genomics 14:307–317).
