摘要: This article reviews the development of subspeciality psycho-oncology and its contributions to patient care, encouraging more attention research into care total patient: physical, psychological, social spiritual aspects care. The result is enhanced quality life as studied in domains living that are important, extending across continuum from diagnosis palliative In addition, cancer prevention early detection depends largely on changing attitudes behaviours put people at greater risk. an important area for psycho-oncologists. past two decades, has contributed our understanding psychological responses accompany a diagnosis. Oncologists better recognise distress psychiatric disorders such anxiety, depression delirium (in hospitalised patients) frequent comorbid disorders. valid assessment tools patients' self-report been important. Increasingly, outcome measures controlled trials new therapies include life, no longer look survival alone. future will continue bring challenges patients face treatment. A major aim next century be this integrated approach all affordable manner.
