摘要: Abstract We present an approach based on geomorphometry to predict material properties and characterize site conditions using the V S 30 parameter (time‐averaged shear‐wave velocity a depth of 30 m). Our framework consists automated terrain classification scheme taxonomic criteria (slope gradient, local convexity, surface texture) that systematically identifies 16 types from 1‐km spatial resolution (30 arcsec) Shuttle Radar Topography Mission digital elevation models (SRTMDEMs). Using 853 values California, we apply simulation‐based statistical method determine mean for each type in California. then compare with individual proxies, such as mapped geology topographic slope, show our systematic terrain‐based consistently performs better than semiempirical estimates proxies. To further evaluate model, California‐based terrains contiguous United States. Comparisons 325 measurements outside well slope indicate be statistically robust more accurate. thus provides objective extending regions where situ are sparse or not readily available.
