摘要: Abstract We have developed a novel process for esterification of cellulose with acetic anhydride in the presence catalytic amount iodine to produce triacetate. At room temperature, 12 h was required complete which reduced 10 min when reaction conducted at 100 °C. The production triacetate and degree substitution confirmed by NMR analysis titration. Both temperature influenced converted CTA as well molecular weight product. Careful characterization produced catalyzed revealed small amounts acetylated carbohydrate oligomers acted plasticizer
