Early childhood nutrition concerns, resources and services for Aboriginal families in Victoria

摘要: Objective: To investigate the child nutrition concerns of Aboriginal families with young children attending health and early childhood services in Victoria; training needs practitioners; sources information advice for children. Method: Qualitative assessment involving consultation parents aged 0–8 years services, practitioners from urban regional Victoria. Focus groups were conducted 35 interviews 45 practitioners. Thematic analysis was used to generate then refine distinct, internally consistent common themes data. Results: The most frequent issues identified low levels breastfeeding, inappropriate introduction solids, reliance on bottles, sweet drinks, energy-dense foods, poor oral overweight. Concerns about staff capacity, access maternal also common. Conclusion implication: This study identifies major gaps service delivery points need a coordinated, culturally responsive systems approach providing support breastfeeding families, including capacity building staff, supportive policy.
