摘要: The use of traditional feedstocks for biofuel production has brought about large changes to food and agricultural systems. As livestock producers adapt rising feed costs, the prospect incorporating dried distiller's grain with solubles (DDGS) at higher than levels becomes an important consideration. Given prices feedstuffs supplies DDGS that are outside historical data range, forward-looking analyses economy (even those explicit derived demands feed) poorly equipped represent farm- sector-level tradeoffs will emerge. authors' results indicate more responsive price in energy-oriented feeds protein, despite predominant historic feeding as a protein supplement. They extend their empirical analysis account role heterogeneous quality, identifying this critical consideration substitution patterns. elasticities they report from two-stage farm-level mix simulation cost function estimation offer robust picture type necessary understanding component demand response biofuels era.
