摘要: Advocacy for military families in the post-9/11 environment was a complex, often-frustrating task which patriotic appeals could open doors to decision-makers, but sometimes were not enough spur most productive action. This chapter explores family advocacy trajectory after 9-11, sharing insights that may help future advocates prepare next crisis. is about preparation—leveraging research anticipate consequences of events, engaging and listening grassroots, doing one’s homework create options, building networks partners further cause. Stories from last war cannot fully or an advocate one. Short-burst reactions catastrophic event such as 9-11 demand one kind focus energy; spans more than decade creates complex circumstances needs.
