摘要: The present study aimed to evaluate the distribution of sand fly species in iron ore caves State Para, Brazil and associate richness abundance these insects with capacity leishmaniasis transmission. Entomological captures were carried out years 2010, 2013, 2014 2015, throughout active samples brushes, along entire caves’ extension, dry rainy periods. A total 9,807 flies counted during 532 samplings events, being 4,340 period 5,467 period. random sample 802 morphologically identified specimens consisted 8 genera 17 species, 369 males (46%) 433 females (54%). predominant was Sciopemyia sordellii 60.6% collected. Differences composition observed between located inside forest anthropized areas. mean different wet periods, a greater phlebotomine fauna proved be rich abundant sampled caves, however, environmental degradation seems main factor determining changes richness, reinforces importance places as shelter for degraded
