摘要: Abstract Equatorial Kelvin and Rossby waves associated with the 1991–93 El Nino warm event were detected in temperature observations made by Tropical Atmosphere-Ocean (TAO) buoy array. Intraseasonal a prominent part of equatorial thermocline depth variability well represented simple model consisting only first- second-mode baroclinic waves. The second mode was essential to properly represent observed amplitude. Thermocline at 5°N 5°S dominated annual interannual waves, which found have been largely wind forced midbasin, little if any signal eastern boundary reflection. An evaluation Wyrtki buildup hypothesis delayed oscillator connection events showed that long lag (about two years) occurred between arrival downwelling west subsequent initiation Nino., this considerably longer than suggested ...
