The tensions of transformation in three cross-institutional wikibook projects

摘要: Abstract Wikis have the potential to change learning environments from traditional knowledge transmission models transformative ones where students generate, share, and reshape knowledge. In this three-part study, graduate created wikibooks across institutional settings. One of these projects extended universities in China, Taiwan, Malaysia, United States, whereas other two involved States. The degree scaffolding support varied each project. At end were surveyed about their wikibook efforts. addition, instructors institutions interviewed obstacles they faced as well opportunities. Based on results, more than dozen cross-institutional issues are organized into five key themes: (1) instructional issues; (2) collaboration (3) technology (4) constructivism sense community (5) issues. Several recommendations offered related use classroom a transformational tool.
