摘要: In this paper we review studies of the growth Internet and technologies that are useful for information search retrieval on Web. We present data from several different sources, e.g., current as well projected number users, hosts, Web sites. Although numerical figures vary, overall trends cited by sources consistent point to exponential in past coming decade. Hence it is not surprising about 85% users surveyed claim using engines services find specific information. The same surveys show, however, satisfied with performance generation engines; slow speed, communication delays, poor quality retrieved results (e.g., noise broken links) commonly problems. discuss development new techniques targeted resolve some problems associated Web-based speculate future trends.
