摘要: The evaluation of engineering controls for the production or use carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was investigated at two facilities. These control assessments are necessary to evaluate current status performance and develop proper strategies these workplaces. systems evaluated in studies included ventilated enclosures, exterior hoods, exhaust filtration systems. Activity-based monitoring with direct-reading instruments filter sampling microscopy analysis were used effectiveness measures study sites. Our results showed that weighing CNTs inside biological safety cabinet can have a 37 % reduction on particle concentration worker’s breathing zone, produce 42 lower area outside enclosure. enclosures reduce fugitive emissions from furnaces exhibited good containment characteristics when closed, but they failed contain effectively opened during product removal/harvesting. employed exhausting did not provide promised collection efficiencies removing engineered nanomaterials furnace exhaust. hoods found be challenge controlling machining nanocomposites: downdraft hood contained removed particles released manual cutting process, using canopy powered nanocomposites created 15–20 higher ultrafine (<500 nm) concentrations source zone. only sources worker zones tasks monitored.
