A general relation between the energy of trapped particles and the disturbance field near the Earth

摘要: The disturbance field caused by charged particles trapped in the earth's magnetosphere is fairly uniform near earth. Its value at center, ΔHz(0), which can be calculated easily, therefore a good approximation for surface. Several years ago, Dessler and Parker derived two special pitch-angle distributions of simple relation ΔHz(0) = -2E/3Em between ΔHz(0) total energy particles, E. (H0 Em are constants denoting horizontal component main equator external to earth, respectively.) It shown this paper that relation applicable any steady configuration regardless their distribution.
