摘要: Recent advances in flexible electronics have enabled the development of large-area electronics, which are typically fabricated from petroleum-based polymers. With rapidly growing market and sensors, there is a pressure to move toward environmentally friendly products. In this chapter, we present biobased polyurethane soft elastomeric capacitor (SEC) for structural health monitoring applications. The sensor’s dielectric using castor oil-based waterborne polyurethane, mixed with titanium dioxide, replaces materials (e.g. styrene–ethylene/butylene–styrene, SEBS) previously used by authors. A critical advantage proposed over SEBS nature polymer water-based fabrication process that limits use solvents. Static characterization demonstrates linearity sensor its ability transduce local strain large surfaces into change capacitance. Material test results show good physical chemical properties despite decay occurs during first 16 days fabrication.
