摘要: Subsistence farmers are among the people most vulnerable to current climate variability. Climate models predict that change will lead warmer temperatures, increasing rainfall variability, and severity frequency of extreme weather events. Agroforestry, or intentional use trees in cropping system, has been proposed by many development practitioners as a potential strategy help reduce their vulnerability change. This study explores whether and, if so, how agroforestry techniques can subsistence From field research conducted western Kenya, we find households not currently coping with climate-related hazards sustainable way. Farmers aware this, believe effective way adapt shocks is through improving general standard living. We evaluated one possible means farmers’ well-being. By comparing engaged an project control group neighboring farmers, involvement improves household’s living via improvements farm productivity, off-farm incomes, wealth environmental conditions farm. conclude be used part broader hazards.
