摘要: In two studies we investigated the behavioral process through which visible female leader role models empower women in leadership tasks. We proposed that tend to mimic powerful (open) body postures of successful models, thus leading more empowered behavior and better performance on a challenging task, called empowering mimicry. Study 1, experimentally manipulated posture male showed 86 Swiss college mimicked (ingroup) but not (outgroup) model, public speaking task. 2, boundary conditions this mimicry does extend exposures non-famous among 50 women. These findings suggest nonverbal is one important mechanism inspire performing From practice perspective, our research underscores importance leaders' visibility because can drive other women's advancement by affording opportunity be models.
