摘要: This paper investigates the phonetic realization of contrastively aspirated affricates /tsh/ and /dzh/ in Nepali. Static palatography reveals no consistent articulatory difference between these sounds their nonaspirated counterparts /ts/ /dz/. However, acoustic examination shows that differ from /dz/ several ways depending on identity following vowel (open /a/ vs. palatal /i/). The most prominent cue to aspirates, voiceless as well voiced, is breathy or muffled voice lowered F0 vowel.
