摘要: Food insecurity represents a major global challenge. The development and application of agrifood technologies as routes to ‘sustainable intensification’ production may improve local national food security. This paper will consider societal responses various technologies. Consumer non-acceptance enabling technologies, their products, is an important barrier commercialisation. Case studies (pesticides, genetic modification plants animals, nanotechnology in agriculture, nutrigenomics nutrition security synthetic biology) are considered along temporal axis (from the 1950s present). Experts regulators have increasingly recognised importance role risk benefit perceptions. normative assumption that consumers ‘anti-agrifood technology’ rejected.
