摘要: The proposed Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG) procedure is an improved methodology for pavement design and evaluation of paving materials. Since this new depends heavily on the characterization fundamental engineering properties materials, a thorough material mixes used in Virginia needed to use MEPDG rehabilitated flexible pavements. primary objective project was perform full hot-mix asphalt (HMA) accordance with established by support its implementation Virginia. This achieved testing sample surface, intermediate, base mixes. examined dynamic modulus, main HMA property required MEPDG, as well creep compliance tensile strength, which are predict thermal cracking. In addition, resilient modulus tests, not were also performed different investigate possible correlations between test modulus. Loose samples 11 (4 base, 4 3 surface mixes) collected from plants across Representative underwent maximum theoretical specific gravity, content using ignition oven method, gradation reclaimed aggregate. Specimens various tests then prepared Superpave gyratory compactor target voids total mix (VTM) 7% ± 1% (after coring and/or cutting). investigation confirmed that effective determining mechanical behavior at temperatures loading frequencies. results showed sensitive constituents (aggregate type, content, percentage recycled pavement, etc.) even same type (SM-9.5A, IM-19.0A, BM-25.0) had measured values because they constituents. level 2 prediction equation reasonably estimated modulus; however, it did capture some differences captured data. Unfortunately, indirect tension strength low-temperature cracking model produce very repeatable results; could be due extensometers test. Based investigation, recommended Department Transportation 1 input data characterize projects significant impact. easy gives mixture.
