Differential evolution based on truncated Lévy-type flights and population diversity measure to solve economic load dispatch problems

摘要: Abstract Economic load dispatch (ELD) is an important constrained optimization task addressing this vital concern for power system operations. ELD problem the process of allocating generation among available committed generating units such that cost optimum subject to several equality and inequality constraints. The conventional methods are mainly classical mathematical methods, which include gradient method Lagrange relaxation method. In recent years, different types evolutionary algorithms have been used solve problems. Among existing algorithms, a well-known branch differential evolution (DE). mutation operation DE applies vector differentials between population members determining both degree direction applied individual operation. With eye improve performance DE, in paper, algorithm combined with truncated Levy flight random walks diversity measure (DEL) crossover operations designed help avoiding premature convergence effectively. A (a sequence displacements) increments distributed according heavy-tailed probability distribution form α-stable family. effectiveness proposed DEL demonstrated two benchmark order evaluate DEL, it systems consisting 13 140 thermal units. Simulation results reveal that, compared those other reported literatures recently, capable obtaining better quality solutions higher efficiency.
