Dynamic development of public attitudes towards science policymaking

摘要: Understanding the heterogeneity of mechanisms that form public attitudes towards science and technology policymaking is essential to establishment an effective engagement platform. Using 2011 opinion survey data from Japan (n = 6,136), I divided general into three categories: Attentive public, who are willing actively engage with dialogue; Interested have moderate interest in but rely on experts for policy decisions; Residual minimal technology. On basis results multivariate regression analysis, identified several key predispositions other socio-demographic characteristics influence shift individuals one category another. The findings provide a foundation understanding how induce more accountable, evidence-based policymaking.
