Interaction between overlapping parallel cracks; a photoelastic study

摘要: The interaction between two parallel cracks with a variable overlap distance in tensile stress field was investigated. principal trajectory patterns and the curves of constant shear for interacting crack tips are presented. It found that a) stresses at smaller than noninteracting or outer b) when there substantial overlap, acted as one, i.e. were greater relative to those either present by itself. Also, propagation paths discussed both conchoidal cleavage fracture.
