Divide and conquer semantic web with modular ontologies: a brief review of modular ontology language formalisms

摘要: Distributed data and knowledge base applications need ontology languages tools that can support collaborative construction, sharing, use of large ontologies. Modular aim to address this challenge by providing language for organizing complex ontologies into relatively independent modules, selective sharing information among reasoning with multiple modules. This paper summarizes the evolution, features semantics recent modular proposals, including Description Logics (DDL), E-Connections Package-based (P-DL) describes some steps towards a meets needs real-world Semantic Web applications.
