Adverse events associated with yoga: a systematic review of published case reports and case series.

摘要: While yoga is gaining increased popularity in North America and Europe, its safety has been questioned the lay press. The aim of this systematic review was to assess published case reports series on adverse events associated with yoga. Medline/Pubmed, Scopus, CAMBase, IndMed Cases Database were screened through February 2013; 35 2 reporting a total 76 cases included. Ten had medical preconditions, mainly glaucoma osteopenia. Pranayama, hatha yoga, Bikram most common practices; headstand, shoulder stand, lotus position, forceful breathing postures techniques cited. Twenty-seven (35.5%) affected musculoskeletal system; 14 (18.4%) nervous 9 (11.8%) eyes. Fifteen (19.7%) reached full recovery; (11.3%) partial 1 (1.3%) no died. As any other physical or mental practice, should be practiced carefully under guidance qualified instructor. Beginners avoid extreme practices such as position breathing. Individuals preconditions work their physician teacher appropriately adapt postures; patients inversions compromised bone practices.
