摘要: The study of water contact patterns in rural Brazil presents unique challenges due to widely dispersed settlement patterns, the ubiquity sites, and privatization resources. This addresses these by comparing two most used methods assessing behaviour: direct observation survey. results a 7-day were compared with surveys administered 1 week after then 1 year study. recorded rate higher than reported other investigators (3.2 contacts per person day); however, 75% for females consisted mainly domestic activities occurring around household. A comparison frequency between revealed several important points. First, no significant differences found routine (e.g. bathing), indicating that participants able accurately self-report some types activities. Second, recording took place outside area, may under-report areas where sites are widely. Third, survey method more common males females, combination widespread gender-specific division labour result under-reporting male methods. In short, despite limitations duration body exposure, record sites. Hence, be suitable Brazil.
