摘要: Investigation into local peoples’ perceptions can produce useful information that could be incorporated the decision-making process to help resolve environmental problems. Within arena of land degradation, a number studies have also been conducted explore views problem. However, land-degrading practices general public so far not actively solicited. This study aimed contribute this area research by adopting psychometric scaling technique empirically lay public’s ecological risk activities in Minqin County Gansu Province, northern China. The primary data were collected via questionnaire survey (n = 1,138) administered between 14 and 31 December 2002. major findings were: (1) Respondents perceived risks posed different different. (2) There was considerable incongruence way which mining groundwater conceived experts laymen, respectively. (3) pretty unsure expert knowledge. (4) Respondents’ significantly affected their personal attributes. As as policy implications these are concerned, accentuates we must aware of, involved in, order succeed guiding any human-environment tensions along more sustainable trajectories navigating transition sustainability.
