摘要: Purpose To induce irreversible gelation of poloxamer, a thermosensitive polymer hydrogel, by using photoinitiator and ultraviolet (UV) irradiation to verify the biocompatibility use poloxamer as an injectable intraocular lens (IOL) material. Setting Department Ophthalmology, Seoul National University College Medicine, Artificial Eye Center, Clinical Research Institute, Hospital, Seoul, Korea. Methods In 10 rabbits, endocapsular phacoemulsification was performed poloxamer–photoinitiator mixture injected into capsular bag through small capsulorhexis site. 1 eye, site closed with plug entire eye irradiated UV light for 5 minutes. Postoperatively, transparency effect on conjunctiva, cornea, iris, vitreous, retina were observed. Results A comprising 25% 0.01% produced that remained transparent in capsule up 6 months. No inflammatory response or toxicity observed retina. Conclusion Poloxamer is potentially suitable material IOL. Further study needed.
