摘要: Computed tomography (CT) is increasingly employed in orthodontic treatment. One of the most successful applications dental implantology, which an artificial root surgically inserted into jawbone to provide anchorage for a prosthesis. For implant surgery, it crucial locate internal structures such as inferior alveolar nerve canal (IAC). This paper presents computerized technique extracting IAC. To facilitate extraction, we first generate panoramic CT images (panoramics) by reformatting original images. The panoramics are series cross-sectional along curved planes through mandible (lower jawbone). Hollow canals subsequently detected analyzing voxel intensities and 3-D gradient orientations panoramics. axis IAC then traced out novel line-tracking technique. method effective despite open structure surrounding bone.
