摘要: Brain morphology was examined using magnetic resonance imaging in 30 first-episode patients with a schizophreniclike psychosis, 15 chronic schizophrenics, and 20 neurological controls. Statistical analyses of computer-generated measurements regions interest were controlled for gender, age, social class, total brain volume. Lateral ventricular size increased both schizophrenic patients, greater significance on the left than right side. Only however, had reduced temporal lobe size, which also No major correlations regional morphological cognitive functioning found, although some verbal memory correlated parahippocampal size. This is report preliminary study that suggests changes may be present at time first treatment psychotic illness, whereas others occur later course illness. Future prospective studies determine clinical these whether they progress development illness chronicity.
