摘要: Fibre-reinforced composites are being used more and widely in many fields. However, the theoretical prediction of failure these is still a challenging task. In this paper, physically-based theory developed by Puck co-workers combined with fracture mechanics based situ strength Wang Karihaloo. The latter considers influence both thickness lamina itself ply angles its neighbouring laminae. This also incorporates new final mode. It able to predict accurately initial stress, thus overcoming one weaknesses Puck’s which significantly underestimates stress. Also, it explains why number non-fatal modes predicted different from those observed experiments under certain loads. Finally, overcome problem discontinuities envelope some load combinations original theory.
