Effect of process variables on the calorific value and compressive strength of the briquettes made from high moisture Empty Fruit Bunches (EFB)

摘要: In this study, the manual hydraulic press was designed to prepare briquettes from selected biomass waste. Each sun-dried and milled into small particle sizes before mixing with crude glycerol that used as a binder. The effects of applied pressure levels 100, 110, 120 bars, size 60, 80 100 mesh binder composition on density, compressive strength calorific heating value prepared were investigated using response surface methodology (RSM). Results showed have an average inside diameter, outside height 12, 38, 25-30 mm, respectively. density increased increasing pressure, in range 623-923 kg/m3. densest obtained at size, 53:47 ratio 110 bars pressurizing. briquette reached up 28.99 MJ/kg mesh, composition, best 6.991 kg/cm2 60:40 bars. Process conditions influence significantly.
