摘要: During uniaxial compression creep tests at 24°C, quartzite and granite specimens were subjected to stresses ranging from 73% 95% of their fracture strengths. Fracture times ranged 10 1.6×106 s. Strains both parallel (ez) perpendicular (er) the maximum stress direction recorded continuously in order compute volumetric strain. Tertiary is signified by a continuous increase strain rate either direction. The amount time spent tertiary prior failure was different for two rock types. Inelastic onset computed found be nearly constant, independent level. magnitude inelastic appears related strength type. For value about 3×10−3, it 1×10 −3. hypothesis that dependent upon induced dilatant volume formed microcracking examined relation critical crack density models rupture.
