摘要: It has been nearly 10 years since Ghazanfar and Schroeder (2006) proposed that the neocortex is essentially multisensory in nature. However, it only recently sufficient hard evidence supports this proposal accrued. We review activity within human primary visual cortex plays an active role processes directly impacts behavioural outcome. This emerges from a full pallet of brain imaging mapping methods with which are quantitatively assessed by taking advantage particular strengths each technique as well advances signal analyses. Several general conclusions about humans supported relatively solidly. First, haemodynamic (fMRI/PET) show there both convergence integration occurring cortex. Second, involved during early post-stimulus stages (as revealed EEG/ERP/ERFs TMS). Third, effects impact behaviour perception, correlational (EEG/ERPs/ERFs) more causal measures (TMS/tACS). While provocative claim whole function yet to be demonstrated, can now considered established case
