摘要: The compressive strength of single human osteons has been investigated in specially prepared samples using a microtesting machine equipped with microwave micrometer. main conclusions which can be drawn from our results are: (1) In agreement Gebhardt's theories the ultimate is greatest for having transversally oriented fiber bundles, lowest longitudinally and intermediate whose bundles change direction successive lamellae through an angle about 90°. (2) modulus elasticity bundles. (3) With all three types osteon stress-strain curves fully calcified are markedly different those low calcium content, being much lower latter type. (4) Age seems to have no measurable influence on properties osteons. (5) comparison macroscopic bone support view that actually mechanical unit compact bone. (6) Fracture starts microscopic fissures induced by shearing. (7) every case these form roughly 30°–35° axis do not appear vary structures. (8) Electron microscopy reveals distortion crystals breaking collagen fibrils at edges fissures.
