摘要: Abstract Herein, we report our analysis of the surface modification polystyrene (PS) when treated under ambient conditions with a common biological buffer such as phosphate buffered saline (PBS) or aqueous solutions ionic constituents PBS. Attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy was used for because resultant spectra are very sensitive to minor changes in chemical and structural properties PS films. In addition, ultraviolet–visible applied characterize modifications PS. Treatment PBS resulted most significant films, compared each PBS, which were tested separately. A multistep mechanism wet is discussed. We postulate that observed result photo-oxidation/reduction, swelling, conformational re-arrangement polymer chain. The could be similar those produced by commonly dry processes plasma treatments electron, ion ultraviolet irradiation. found occurred more stable than initiated processes. formation active groups on can controlled adsorption bovine serum albumin thermal annealing before treatment. This approach provides simple efficient method biomedical applications.
