摘要: Background/Aims: Acute pyelonephritis is relatively common in women. It has been well studied young adults, but rarely geriatric patients. Given that the population of Korea aging rapidly, this study examined clinical characteristics acute Korean Methods: We retrospectively 499 patients diagnosed with community-acquired from March 2002 to February 2005. All admitted Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital emergency room or out-patient department were recruited. Pregnant women and hospital-acquired cases excluded. Results: Ninety-nine subjects (19.8%) aged 65 years over (mean age 73.1 ± 6.3 years, range 65-93). Elderly had a greater male predominance, longer hospital stay, higher rate positive urine cultures than younger years. The presence diabetes mellitus, complicated pyelonephritis, serum creatinine level associated distribution infectious microorganisms was similar between two groups. Old (> years) an important risk factor for long along gender, renal dysfunction, white blood count (WBC) high alkaline phosphatase levels.
