Development of a censored robust design model for time‐oriented quality characteristics

摘要: Robust design (RD) techniques, which are based on the concept of building quality into products or processes, increasingly popular in industry primarily because their practicality. Traditional RD principles have often been applied to situations characteristics interest time-insensitive. However, when time-oriented studied, censored data occur. As a result, current models reported literature may not be effective finding solutions such data. To address practical needs, this paper develops model. We also propose an estimation method that is closely related expectation–maximization algorithm and compare it with maximum likelihood via numerical example. Model validation conducted, comparative studies discussed for model verification. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
