摘要: A variety of tumours arise in the pineal region [44]. Planning surgical management depends on biological nature individual neoplasms determined preoperative radiological findings an intraoperative histological diagnosis using frozen sections, as well surgeon’s experience. Germinoma, tumour originating from body, can be cured low-dose radiotherapy chemotherapy, nowadays needs only to biopsied. On other hand, mature teratomas, dermoid or epidermoid cysts, neurocytomas, meningiomas radical resection. Pineal ependymomas require removal adjuvant radiotherapy. Other such malignant teratomas embryonal carcinomas, need sophisticated combination therapy including surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy. For neurosurgeons should recognize that resection part therapy. instance, application appropriate neoadjuvant prior will remarkably reduce risk for patients with large tumours.
