摘要: Abstract Considerable progress is being made in our understanding of the molecular basis for mammalian carbohydrate recognition systems. Selectins, related proteins and sialoadhesins are carbohydrate-binding which serve as receptors orchestration innate acquired immune responses, inflammation other forms cell—cell communication. Protein structural studies gain-of-function loss-of-function mutations providing clues to ways interact with monosaccharide elements oligosaccharide ligands. Binding experiments using oligosaccharides on lipid or protein carriers indicate that modes presentation such clustered state manner display crucial factors determining whether a functional triad receptor ligand + carrier (counter-receptor) formed.
