摘要: To explore prevention opportunities presented by colorectal adenoma diagnosis and inform engagement strategies for the BeWEL study (body weight physical activity lifestyle intervention cancer screening participants who have undergone removal). Qualitative comprising 4 purposively sampled focus groups conducted in urban rural areas Tayside, Scotland, with different deprivation levels. Participants were men women (n = 17) aged 50-74 BMI > 25 kg/m2 removal of detected screening. Adenoma presents both challenges prevention. Some patients perceived as minor not sufficiently motivating to act a ‘teachable moment’. Patients had low awareness relationship between factors, received little information on during treatment. Consequently they interpreted post-treatment ‘all clear’ messages validation existing lifestyles, did see relevance advice. Receptiveness increased when association lifestyle, recurrence other illness was explained. The illustrates value exploratory research into patient understanding improve communications health services. Without unduly worrying patients, professionals should explain how reduce risk adenoma, diseases, particularly through diet, reduction.
