摘要: This review summarizes the current knowledge pertaining to Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) epidemiology and transmission. Since identification of KSHV twenty years ago, it is now known be associated with Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS), primary effusion lymphoma, multicentric Castleman’s disease. Many studies have been conducted understand its pathogenesis their results clearly show that worldwide distribution uneven. Some geographical areas, such as sub-Saharan Africa, Mediterranean region Xinjiang China, are endemic but Western Europe United States a low prevalence in general population. makes imperative risk factors acquisition infection. can transmitted via sexual contact non-sexual routes, transfusion contaminated blood tissues transplants, or saliva contact. There consensus salivary transmission main route transmission, especially children residing areas. Therefore, there need better sources young children. Additionally, lack animal models study gold standard serological assay emphasis on KS research has hampered efforts further delineate order design effective prevention strategies.
