摘要: Metabolic diseases affect millions of individuals across the world and represent a group chronic very high prevalence relatively low therapeutic success, making them suitable candidates for pathophysiological studies. The sympathetic nervous system (SNS) contributes to regulation energy balance expenditure both in physiological pathological states. For instance, drugs that stimulate activity decrease food intake, increase resting metabolic rate thermogenic response food, while pharmacological blockade SNS has opposite effects. Likewise, dysmetabolic features such as insulin resistance, dyslipidaemia obesity are characterized by basal overactivation SNS. Recently, new line research linking emerged with report carotid bodies (CBs) involved development resistance. CBs arterial chemoreceptors classically sense changes blood O2 , CO2 pH levels whose is known be increased rodent models We have shown selective bilateral resection nerve CB, sinus (CSN), totally prevents diet-induced hyperglycaemia, dyslipidaemia, hypertension sympathoadrenal overactivity. These results imply beneficial effects CSN on action glucoregulation modulated target-related efferent nerves through reflex initiated CBs. It also highlights modulation CB putative future intervention diseases.
