Assessing willingness to accept compensation for polluted farmlands: a contingent valuation method case study in northwest China

摘要: It is difficult to assess the value of environmental damage, such as that related polluted farmlands, because no markets exist are relevant valuation. This paper applies contingent valuation method measure compensation considered acceptable those working and living on farmlands. Baiyin Jinchang Cities in northwest China chosen for a case study based 382 completed questionnaires. shown willingness accept (WTA) necessary damage assessment reasonable when negatively affected by pollution farmlands also hold property rights. The applied two methods (the Tobit model Logit model) estimate MWTA value. Based our findings, could be more effective detecting correcting respondent bias. indicates set explanatory variables influences respondents’ WTA decisions which positively farmland size family size, income education levels.
